On the set of Kurbaan, April 2009, Central Park
This Friday 11/20 the new movie 'Kurbaan' ("Sacrificed") releases in the U.S., starring Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Om Puri. The film was shot in NYC and Philly earlier this year. I was an 'Extra' for a day when they filmed in NYC. We filmed at Central Park on a sunny and warm spring day. The Call-time was like 6:00AM and we got done around 4:00PM. Most Extra work on films just involves a lot of waiting and waiting and patience, hoping that they call you for a scene. For Kurbaan, I was with a little under a hundred other people in a 4th of July or 'patriotic' type of scene. We were told to wear red, white and blue that day, and they gave us tons of accessories to add to our looks. I ended up wearing a big 'Uncle Sam' type of hat and they painted my face as well. It was a 'parade' type of scene and we marched, waving our balloons and streamers like we were having a grand old time. Saif and Kareena came onto set at one point and on cue, ran through us, weaving in and out of the crowd. The other scene we all made a circle around them and the camera panned all around us. Not sure if I will get camera time, but we shall see! There is apparently a lot of controversy involving this film, especially in India, due the nature of the film (terrorism), as well as Kareena Kapoor's 'bare' back in the movie promo pictures and what I believe is some 'french kissing' in the film as well; all topics for another blog another day.
In the meantime, I am attaching a pic of me in my Kurbaan costume that day on set (without the 'Uncle Sam' hat) and a link to the film.
