Does Deepika Padukone have a secret twin sister and were they separated at birth? ..."Chandni Chowk to China" deja-vu?! The beautiful lady on the left is none other than my friend (and fellow Bollywood Funk NYC teaching assistant and student) Rajeshwari. I have been telling Rajeshwari FOREVER that she bears a striking resemblance to Deepika, and now I finally get the chance to show it! Thanks, Rajeshwari for giving me permission to post your photo here. Perhaps you can be a stand-in for ... Continue reading ...
'Look Ma, No Hair!' - Bollywood BITES?!?
This installment of 'Mid-Heard Hindi' comes compliments of mera boyfriend aur aadhyapak Hindi ko #1 (my boyfriend and #1 Hindi teacher). Yesterday at lunch while constructing completely random sentences in Hindi, here's what happened... I said: "Main tumhare baal nahin chabaooingi." (I will not bite your hair). He heard: "Main tumhari maa nahin chabaooingi." (I will not bite your mom). Disclaimer: For the record, his mom is WONDERFUL person and I would never ever think of biting her, or her hair... Film Reviews
Saw "Kurbaan" last night to a surprisingly not-so-full house at the Imaginasian Theatre. Out of a 5, I give Kurbaan a 2.5. The movie was a complete serious drama, so any of you song-and-dance-masala fans out there will be disappointed if you go expecting that. Anyhow, terrorism being the main theme of the movie, you know its got to be disturbing. In my opinion, Karan Johar did an impressive attempt at covering such a dark topic, although I felt the movie was a little too long for what it was... Continue reading ...

My Day as an Extra in 'Kurbaan'
On the set of Kurbaan, April 2009, Central Park This Friday 11/20 the new movie 'Kurbaan' ("Sacrificed") releases in the U.S., starring Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Om Puri. The film was shot in NYC and Philly earlier this year. I was an 'Extra' for a day when they filmed in NYC. We filmed at Central Park on a sunny and warm spring day. The Call-time was like 6:00AM and we got done around 4:00PM. Most Extra work on films just involves a lot of waiting and waiting and patienc... Continue reading ...

I created this blog because 1) I love to write and 2) I love to talk about Bollywood. I 'stumbled' upon Bollywood over 6 years ago, and my life has never been the same since. I am currently an instructor and dance company member at Bollywood Funk NYC, I have seen a lot of Hindi films, been in a few of them, aur mujhe thoda thoda Hindi aata hai. Main Amrikkan hoon lekin mera dil Hindustani hai.
